Minooka Man Faces Joliet DUI, Child Endangerment Charges: JPD

The boy was given a ride home by Joliet police. His father, Joshua Phillips, was also cited for speeding and improper lane usage.

JOLIET, IL — A 43-year-old Minooka man was taken away in handcuffs and his juvenile son was given a ride home by Joliet police after officers arrested Joshua Phillips on charges of DUI and endangering the life and health of a child.

The incident leading to the arrest of Phillips happened around 4:50 p.m. Sunday.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events happened:

  • Officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado near Theodore Street and Drauden Road for improper lane usage and speeding.
  • Phillips was the driver, and officers saw Phillips’ son in the vehicle as well.
  • Phillips exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. He refused to participate in field sobriety tests and was taken into custody without incident. Phillips was also cited for speeding and improper lane usage.
  • Phillips was released on an I-bond. Authorities said he lives in the 100 block of Minooka's Mondamin Street.
