Morris Woman, 20, Struck, Killed By Semi Tractor: Coroner
Virginia Hayes was a passenger in a car traveling westbound on Pine Bluff that developed car problems, Grundy Coroner John Callahan said.

MORRIS, IL — Grundy County Coroner John Callahan’s office is investigating the death of a 20-year-old Morris woman who was standing along Pine Bluff Road when she was hit by a semi tractor. The incident happened around midnight Friday, Callahan said.
According to Callahan, Virginia Hayes was a passenger in a car that developed some car problems. The driver pulled off of the road on Pine Bluff just west of the Grundy County Line.
"Virginia and the other ladies in the car were outside of the vehicle checking for the problem when Virginia stepped into the eastbound lane of traffic," Callahan announced in his press release.

She was struck by a semi owned by Dibble Trucking of Gardner. Hayes was taken to the Morris emergency room, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival at 12:48 am. Saturday.
The young woman's death remains under investigation by Callahan’s office, Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police Reconstruction Division, Callahan noted.
