An older woman who lives on Center Street said this is at least the third time someone has crashed into Joliet's welcome entrance.

JOLIET, IL — There are several large limestone entrance signs and flag poles scattered across different borders of Joliet, but the city's gateway along northbound Center Street in the St. Pat's Area has been destroyed by an out of control driver.
The incident happened more than a week ago, but the ruins were still visible on Friday the 13th. Joliet Patch walked the property Friday morning and found the city of Joliet's flag pole laying in the grass. Several large stones were toppled by the motorist.
A Joliet Police Department official checked the police reports going back to early December and could not find any details regarding the crash. An older woman who lives Center Street told Joliet Patch on Friday that several police were on the scene after the crash occurred.
