JOLIET, IL — The biggest story in local politics remains Joliet City Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson's accusation that Mayor Bob O'Dekirk has blackmailed him over photos Dickinson says he took of his own genitals and sent to a woman he had a consensual relationship.

On Monday, Dickinson filed a police report against the mayor and his report was immediately supplied to a local newspaper. That same night, Dickinson read a prepared statement at the Council meeting suggesting he has been a blackmail victim these past several months.

Since the meeting, Dickinson has been unresponsive to requests for comment from the Joliet Patch. Moreover, Dickinson took down his Facebook page even though Dickinson is the most active Joliet elected official on social media, often posting information on Facebook 10 to 20 times a day.

"I don't have a naked photo of Don "Duck" Dickinson. I've never seen a photo of Don. I don't ever want to see a naked photo of Don Dickinson or any other man," O'Dekirk told Slocum during WJOL's live interview.

"I don't know why he would be compelled not only to lie about me, but then to put in an official document, in a police report, filing a false police report ... I don't know what he said, but it is a complete lie and again, if he's engaged in some kind of inappropriate behavior, that's on him and he should take responsibility for what he's done."

Mayor O'Dekirk went on to tell WJOL during his radio station interview that "apparently he's engaging in these perverted acts, to bring me into this, it's 100 percent untrue."

O'Dekirk called it "ridiculous" that Dickinson is engaged in this "lewd behavior" and has now chosen to portray himself as a victim. Dickinson told The Herald-News that even though he announced in September he would not run for re-election in April, he is now contemplating reviving his campaign and seeking another four-year term as an at-large Council member.

In his full-time job, Dickinson, 60, works in maintenance for the Joliet Park District. He has also participated in numerous celebrity bartender events around Joliet. The woman that Dickinson was involved in sending photos of his genitals is another local elected official, Slocum informed his WJOL radio listeners this week.

"Mayor, you say lewd behavior, do you know of other things other than just nude photographs?" Slocum asked.

"Scott, I think a 60-year-old man who's an elected official that's taking pictures of his private parts and sends them to women, I don't think that's appropriate, but if Don thinks that's appropriate, then he should stand up and defend himself," O'Dekirk told WJOL. "To bring me into this and imply that I had anything to do with this and again, to try to portray himself as a victim, it's cowardly and that's what Don is."
