New HBO Show Featuring Joliet Produced By Joliet Catholic Academy Graduate

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Catholic Academy announced on Thursday that Brian Udovich, JCA Class of 1994 and a prominent film and television producer, will be involved with the new HBO police series "American Blue" that will be produced in Joliet.

"An Emmy Award–winning producer, Brian has previously visited JCA to share his journey to Hollywood with our students. We’re proud to see his career bring him back to his hometown," JCA announced on Facebook.

Joliet Catholic Academy said Udovich talked with local cops around Joliet throughout the television show's development and that "American Blue" is expected to live in the same lane as classic police shows like "Hill Street Blues" and "NYPD Blue."

Joliet Catholic shared a portion of an interview involving HBO Max executives telling "Deadline" that "It’s very much in that vein where you really get to know these police officers and understand that they are members of this community that they’re serving. But also it is very much in the streets, on their feet, doing the job in 2025. We always love that kind of very specific storytelling."

According to last week's story published by Variety, "Milo Ventimiglia has been set as the star of 'American Blue,' a cop drama pilot at HBO Max ... The official logline reads, 'Native son Brian ‘Milk’ Milkovich (Ventimiglia) returns to his hometown of Joliet, Illinois, to rescue a beleaguered police force while seeking redemption of his own.' Milk is described as 'a quietly determined, natural-born leader hoping to find a second chance in the place he left behind.'"
