New Burger Restaurant Intends To Be Joliet's Best

Burger Theory is at the new Holiday Inn & Suites near Joliet Junior College.

JOLIET, IL - In the restaurant business, only the strong survive, and in recent weeks the city of Joliet welcomed a new restaurant at the Rock Run Crossings development south of the Joliet Junior College campus off Houbolt Road. Burger Theory is inside the new Holiday Inn & Suites. There's been buzz on Facebook about the new restaurant, so Joliet Patch stopped by Monday afternoon to check it out. The bar area has about two dozen beers on tap including several local craft beers. There's a large indoor dining area.

There's also an outdoor patio for guests who want to eat near the fire pit or overlooking the water.

Burger Theory employees told Patch that the word is getting around the Joliet area. They're drawing most of their customer base from the Joliet, Shorewood, Channahon and Minooka area as well as travelers along Interstate 80 and Interstate 55.

Restaurant officials said they want to be known for two things. "Having one of the best burgers" around Joliet and for "being a good place to go for good craft beer."

At this rate, Joliet is on pace to become the hamburger capital of Illinois.

The addition of Burger Theory follows a trend of new burger restaurants opening around the growing city of nearly 150,000. Other popular additions in Joliet include Hamburgerseria on Essington Road, Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes on West Jefferson Street and Five Guys near the Louis Joliet Mall.

Burger Theory's menu lists eight different house burgers. And you can be an individual. Burger Theory has a build your burger special as well.

Since it opened, Burger Theory says the following burgers have been tremendously popular: The Lone Star, which features cheddar cheese, thick bacon, onion ring and BBQ sauce; The Bruben Melt, patty melt meets Rueben, certified Angus beef, lean corned beef, Swiss cheese, creamy slaw, KGB sauce and grilled rye bread; and the BT Boss, a 1/2 pound burger stuffed with bacon, onion, sharp cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, lettuce and KGB sauce.

There's also plenty of salads, starters, red wines, white wines and lots of beers on the two-page menu.

From the Burger Theory Joliet Facebook page, one first-time customer posted, "It was fantastic … the standout was for sure the burgers. We tried two different kinds and man o man were they good … If I lived in or near Joliet, I would come here a couple of nights a week. Place is top notch!"
