New Starbucks: Joliet Can Never Have Too Many

JOLIET, IL — One of the nation's favorite coffee shops, Starbucks, is in the final stages of opening its next business in Joliet. This one is going near the Louis Joliet Mall, right next to the Burger King fast-food restaurant.

This year, contractors tore down the empty Pier 1 Imports store that had been for sale in recent years. A new strip mall has been built on the site that will be anchored by a Starbucks coffeehouse. This week, an asphalt paving company was finishing up the new parking lot.

The new Starbucks looks like it will be ready to open in coming weeks.

The area near the Starbucks has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. The Diamands Family Restaurant closed during the 2020 indoor restaurant shutdown and never reopened. The owners sold their property to the rapidly expanding Raising Cane's fast-food restaurant franchise. On March 8, thousands of people flocked to Joliet's first Raising Cane's for the grand opening of its new fast-food restaurant that focuses on chicken fingers.
