JOLIET, IL - Joliet's print newspaper has learned that a recent lawsuit brought by a Joliet motorist against the city of Joliet involving a February 2018 traffic crash with Mayor Bob O'Dekirk has reached a settlement. The settlement was paid by the city's insurance coverage carrier and the amount paid to the plaintiff was $50,000, according to the newspaper.

Joliet Patch previously reported that the lawsuit plaintiff, Falana Turner, was involved in the crash with the mayor's vehicle, a city-owned 2012 Chevy Impala, on Feb. 5, 2018 at the intersection of North Center Street and Charlotte Avenue.

A large portion of the $50,000 settlement will likely go to the plaintiff's lawyer, who brought the case forward. To read the full article in The Herald-News, go here.
