JOLIET, IL — After moving to Joliet's west side in May to open Niko's Catering, well-known Joliet restaurant owner Nikos Lippas will be hosting his first Greek Dinner Night at his new location. And, for the first time, customers can eat their meal inside Republic Banquet Hall, if they choose.

Next Wednesday, which is Oct. 4, the owner of Niko's Catering said he will cook 1,000 Greek chicken dinners for the Greek Dinner Night extravaganza. It will last from 10 a.m. and until 8 p.m. — or while there's still food.

During Wednesday night's interview at the Republic Banquet Hall, Lippas said he intends to sell all 1,000 Greek chicken dinners, "the first one in the new location," he remarked.

The entire meal, half a chicken, plus Greek rice and Greek potatoes, will cost $10.99.

All customers will enter the building through the front entrance. The Republic Hall Banquet facility is at 113 Republic Ave., between West Jefferson Street and Glenwood Avenue.

For Greek Dinner Night, Niko's Catering will offer the Greek chicken meals by delivery, takeout and dine-in.

The banquet hall seating will accommodate about 160 guests. For dine-in customers, Greek Dinner Night will also feature desserts and salads available for purchase.

"We're going to have a little Greek music," he said. "Soda, beer and wine will also be sold from the bar."

One important note: online orders will only be for take out orders.

On the other hand, people can call ahead for dine-in, takeout and delivery.

"Pre-orders are encouraged," Lippas said.

Joliet Patch asked the owner of Niko's Catering how business has been since he opened the catering business. In August, Lippas also sold his long-time downtown Joliet restaurant on Ohio Street, Niko's Pizzeria, to his long-time friend, Gabriel Jaramillo.

"Perfect, never better," Lippas answered. "We have done a lot of catering from the new location and are looking forward to doing a lot more business with local schools, hospitals and business offices."

As for Greek Dinner Night, his first at the Republic Banquet Hall, Lippas said, "I'm excited to see all my customers. I want to thank all my loyal customers that have been with me for so many years. Thank you for all your continued support. I wouldn't be here without you guys. I'm going to keep feeding you guys with a smile."

At 20 Ohio St., Niko's Pizzeria was known for its motto, "Stay Hungry My Friends."

At 113 Republic Ave., Niko's Catering has developed a new motto.

"We are proud to serve you," Lippas said, "And we'll see you Wednesday."
