Joliet's very own Joseph "Jojo" Awinongya was chosen to be featured in No Days Off a youtube program by Whistle Sports featuring the top upcoming athletes in the world. Joseph is the first kid in Illinois to keep winning nationals in boxing since 9 yrs old. He is a 3 x Silver Gloves National Champ, 1x USA National Champion, 2x Jr Olympic National Champion, 1 x Western Elite Qualifier National Champion, 2x St Louis National Champion, 1x King of the Jungle National Champion, 2 x Wisconsin National Champion, and Power Gloves National Champion. In addition, he received a congratulatory belt from the IBF International Boxing Federation for his athletic determination. He was also awarded a "Jo Boxer" License plate from Secretary of State for all his achievements along with several proclamations.
Floyd Mayweather's Former Assistant trainer Nate Jones a 96' Olympian said "Floyd didn't retire yet". Joseph is the new Floyd in Chicago. Gervonta"Tank" Davis's Trainer Kevin Cunningham, Terence Crawford's trainer Brian McIntyre and Adrian Bronner's trainer Mike Stafford all agree and witnessed it at the Silver Gloves Nationals 2020. Nate Jones says he is happy that Joseph Awinongya is from Illinois.
