Obituary: Angelina Alvarez

She was a devout Catholic who lived her life to the fullest.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Angelina Alvarez

Angelina Alvarez, age 84, passed away September 10, 2025, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, with her loving family at her side. She was born on January 15, 1941, in Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Rafael Haro and Teresa Alvarez.

A devout Catholic, Angelina loved to attend Mass with her family. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had the best gorditas and tamales recipes, and enjoyed teaching her family how to make them. Angelina was a great woman who always lived life to the fullest.

Angelina is survived by her devoted children, Jorge (Aurora) Alvarez, Abel Alvarez, Mario (Patricia) Alvarez, Raudel (Alicia) Alvarez, and Angelica (Manuel) Corona; loving grandchildren, Jorge Jr., Abel, Jose, Maria Isabela, David, Crystal Michelle, Alejandro, Ana Yesenia, Jesus, Raudel, Manuel Gustavo, Gabriela, and Adrian; adoring great-grandchildren, Norman, Niko, Nate, Christofer, Dariel, Benjamin, Sophia, Angelica, Isabella, Sophia, Delilah, Isaiah, and Luca; dear sisters, Catalina and Oliva.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Salvador; brothers, Ramon and Eufemio; sisters, Merecedes and Ines.

Visitation for Angelina Alvarez will be Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin at the funeral home, Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 205 E. Jackson St., Joliet, IL, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL.

Angelina Álvarez, de 84 años, falleció el 10 de Septiembre del 2025 en el Hospital Adventist, acompañada de su querida familia. Nació el 15 de Enero del 1941 en Zacatecas, México, hija de Rafael Haro y Teresa Álvarez.

Era una católica devota y le encantaba ir a misa con su familia. Fue una esposa, madre, abuela y bisabuela devota. Tenía las mejores recetas de gorditas y tamales y disfrutaba enseñárle a su familia como prepararlos. Fue una gran mujer que siempre quiso vivir la vida al máximo.

El velatorio de Angelina Álvarez sera el domingo 14 de Septiembre de 2025 en la Funeraria Fred C. Dames, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, de 15:00 a 19:00 h. Las oraciones comenzarán en la funeraria el Lunes 15 de Septiembre de 2025 a las 10:00 a. m. y se dirigirán a la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, ubicada en 205 E. Jackson St., Joliet, IL, para una misa de entierro cristiano a las 11:00 a. m. A continuación, el entierro tendrá lugar en el Parque Memorial Woodlawn, Joliet, IL.
