Obituary: Betty Ann Richie
Betty Ann Richie, age 78, of Minooka, and formerly of Downers Grove and Marseilles, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021.

Betty Ann Richie, age 78, of Minooka, and formerly of Downers Grove and Marseilles, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Amita Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook.
Born May 14, 1943, in Hinsdale, IL, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Bertha (Henry) Bolte. She married the love of her life and former high school sweetheart, Jay David Richie, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his passing on November 28, 2020.

Betty was an organized and take-charge person, who kept lists of the many important things she wished to accomplish. A talented baker, she will be fondly remembered for all her sweet and delicious treats. Enjoying extended family was always a meaningful part of her life.
Betty and Jay were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Marseilles, and she enjoyed being a member of the Ladies Church Guild. She was also involved for many years with her daughters’ PTA activities. Jay was a car enthusiast and he and Betty enjoyed traveling all over the country attending car shows.

Later in life, Betty began to experience the burden of Alzheimer’s disease, and although forced to live only in the present moment, she maintained her sweet and kind personality.
Surviving are her two devoted daughters, Linda (Dave) Sobieski of Plainfield, and Sharon (Paul) Baumgartner of Naperville; and two adoring grandchildren, Tyler and Patricia Baumgartner.
Visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021, from 9:00 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet. Interment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
