Christopher Galounis

Christopher A. Galounis, age 59, of Rockdale, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

Born November 17, 1962 in Joliet, he was the son of Alex and Eva (D’Orazio) Galounis, and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. He was a man of many talents and worked for several years as a security officer and also in the construction trades as a plumber and handyman.

Chris adored his grandchildren, Mason and Cole. He loved playing games and making them smile. Chris welcomed all of his children's friends into his home as if they were his own. He loved playing Euchre and card games with his family and friends. Chris also enjoyed playing basketball with all the neighborhood children. Chris never met at stranger, he only made friends along the way. He would give his shirt right off his back to anyone who needed a helping hand.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Theresa (Pope) Galounis; his children, Chad Galounis, Alex (Danielle Prince) Galounis, Christopher Galounis, Daniel Galounis, and Sarah Galounis; two grandsons, Mason and Cole; and his brother, George (Patricia) Galounis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, William Galounis.

Visitation for Christopher Galounis will be held Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 901 Elizabeth Street, Joliet, IL 60435. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Lurie Children’s Hospital, 225 E Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60611 (luriechildrens.org) would be appreciated.
