Obituary: Donald Bradford Jackson

Veteran who served in the Korean War passed away at age 91.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Donald Bradford Jackson

Age 91, of Joliet, Illinois passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center.

Donald was born on October 25, 1933, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to the late Inez and Daniel Webster Jackson.

He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War serving his Country proudly. Don was honorably discharged in 1956.

Don retired in 1989 from Fisher Body (a division of GM), of Willow Springs, after many years of faithful service. As a former Vice President of the Crystal Lawns Water Association, he served in various capacities spanning over 60 years.

He will be remembered for his methodical mind which allowed him to have the wherewithal to fix just about anything.

His most memorable times were spent with family and fishing with his wife on the lake in Guntersville, AL.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Prathyl Jackson; three sons, Brad (Candie) Jackson, Wayne Jackson and Daniel (Rhonda) Jackson; grandsons, Curtis (AJ) Jackson and Keith (Aimee) Jackson; two step granddaughters, Mary (Shawn) Kolin, and Kristi Medema, great-grandchildren, Paisley, Felicity, Kitch, Charisma, Seneca, and Jaxson; and one great-great-grandson Damien. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

All friends and relatives are invited to gather at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 12 Noon – 4 p.m. A Memorial Service will conclude the afternoon beginning at 3:30 p.m.

As it was Donald's request, cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Cornerstone Services of Will County.
