Obituary: Eli J. Orasco

Eli, who enjoyed life and was a wonderful dancer, passes away at age 97.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Eli J. Orasco

Age 97, of Joliet, Illinois passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Monday, February 5, 2024 at Solstice Senior Living of Joliet. He was born April 17, 1926 to the late Mary (Ledesma) and Raymond Orasco in Rockdale, IL where he was raised and attended local schools.

He is the beloved father of Michael (Cindy) Orasco, Dawn Barr and Lisa (Matt) Stewart; loving grandfather of Traci (Lawrence) Jungles, LeAnn (Todd) Maland, Michelle Gumtow; Melinda (Mark) Hunter, the late Jayme Barr, Shannyn Barr; Sarah, Nicole and Laura Elliot. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; his brother Raymond C. Orasco and several generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and granddaughter, Jayme, Eli is also preceded in death by his siblings, Paul Orosco, Bonnie King, Frances Price, Philip Orasco, Thomas Orasco and baby sister, Carmen in infancy.

Eli resided in Bloomington, Illinois for a number of years where he was a self employed hairstylist until he worked in the construction industry as a longtime member of the laborers union in Bloomington.

Eli enjoyed life and was a wonderful dancer, having danced professionally with his former wife and friend, Joan, usually to big band selections, even though Eli's favorite genre was Jazz!

Visitation for Eli Orasco will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A prayer service will immediately follow the visitation at 4 p.m.

As it was Eli's wish cremation rites will be accorded after his services and inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eli's name can be made to Lightways Hospice of Joliet.
