George G. Kunz

Age 71, passed from this life Saturday morning, April 8, 2023, surrounded by his family at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, IL.

He was born August 24, 1951 to the late Vivian (Vicek) and George Kunz in Chicago where he was raised and educated. A U. S. Army Veteran who served his Country proudly. He was honorably discharged in 1974 and continued as a reservist for the next three years.

George is the beloved father of Michele Sitterly, Michael (Nora)Kunz, Holly (Sergio) Solorio, Theresa (Jesse) Ingram and George (Yolanda Matias) Kunz; dearest grandfather of Antony (Kassidi), Amelia, Raymond, Cody, Autumn, Alyssa, Sergio, Aiden, Nikki, Jessica, Kimberly, Marie, Isabella, lil’ Georgie; proud great-grandpa of Isabella and another on the way. He is also survived by seven siblings, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

George retired from the IRS after many years of dedicated service. Being a people person, he thoroughly enjoyed driving a limousine in his retirement, as well as being a Cubs fan. However, nothing meant more to him than being with his family.

Visitation for George will be Monday April 10, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Funeral services are scheduled to begin Tuesday April 11, 2023 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
