George H. Gennardo, age 76, of Shorewood, passed away suddenly, Friday, January 7, 2022, at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet.

George H. Gennardo, age 76, of Shorewood, passed away suddenly, Friday, January 7, 2022 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet.
He was born in Chicago, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Sasso) Gennardo. Formerly of Lombard, and residing in Shorewood the past 15 years. George graduated from Trinity High School, Chicago, and attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. He retired from SBC Global Services, Inc. (AT&T) in 1995, following 28 years of service, and was formerly employed by a small paint store in Chicago from age 13 until the end of his college years.

George was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed playing water volleyball and exercising on the fitness machines at the Shorewood Glen Clubhouse.
Surviving is his loving wife and partner of 54 years, Mary (Rojek) Gennardo of Shorewood; his two children, Sandy (Dan) Clark of Bolingbrook, and Rob (Amy) Gennardo of Oswego; four grandchildren, Kayli (Cole) Tribble, Kyle (Vanessa) Clark, and Olivia and Ben Gennardo; one sister, Antoinette (Dan) Martin; two brothers, Fr. Vincent Gennardo, CS and Robert (Pat) Gennardo; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for George Gennardo will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet, from 8:00 a.m. until chapel prayers at 9:15 a.m., then continuing to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Avenue, Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society or the Parkinson’s Foundation would be appreciated.
