Passed Away: December 23, 2024

Gloria J. Chimmy, age 81, passed away suddenly at her residence in Joliet on Monday, December 23, 2024. Gloria was born in Chicago on March 14, 1943, to the late Bruno and Wanda (nee Granica) Paluch. She worked for over 20 years at 1st National Bank of Chicago. Gloria and her husband, Robert had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past October. She was a strong but loving mother and grandmother. Even as her grandchildren grew up, Nana kept up with them through phone calls or FaceTime and she was proud of each and every one of them.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Robert R. Chimmy; her beloved children, Robert J. Chimmy, Patricia (Robert T.) Twombly, III, and Thomas E. (Karen) Chimmy; her grandchildren, Ryan Dougherty, Heather A. (Richard Sutton) Twombly, Robert T. (Lynette) Twombly, IV, Zachary T. Twombly, Thomas J. Chimmy, Patrick N. (Kaitlynn) Chimmy, Catherine M. (Nick George) Chimmy, and Tiffany N. Chimmy; her great-grandchildren, Lexi, Audrey, Kinsley, Robert V, Becka, Beverly, Delilah, Blake, Aron, Claire, Makinley, and Bentley; her brothers, Jerome M. Paluch and Ronald (Paula) Paluch; and special nephew and niece, Robert Paluch and Stacy (Brian) Southard.

All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Gloria’s life on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
