Harold L. Raub

Harold L. Raub, age 79, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, September 7, 2023, with his family by his side at Lightways Hospice Home, Joliet, IL.

Born October 9, 1943, in Joliet, IL, he was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1961. He worked for Commonwealth Edison as an underground lineman for 28 years. After retirement, he worked for Shorewood Home and Auto. He was a proud member of the Moran Athletic Club and the Knights of Columbus #382, both in Joliet.

Harold loved going to and participating in cruise nights and car shows with his 1964 red Corvette. He loved hanging out with his car show friends with whom he loved like family. If he wasn’t out ripping through the gears in his Corvette, he could be found sitting in “Harold’s Garage Bar”. Everyone was always welcome to stop by and have some laughs and enjoy an ice-cold Milwaukee’s Best Light. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite day-by-day thing to do was to take car rides with his beloved dog Rosie. He was loving and caring, always giving to others before thinking of himself.

Surviving are his three children, Michael (Elizabeth) Raub of Mulino, OR, Kristin (Douglas) Lawler of Shorewood IL, and Daniel (Christine) Raub of Plainfield, IL; five grandchildren, Michael (Cassie) Raub, Megan Lawler, Doug (Stacy) Nelson, Cody Raub and Ashley Raub; three great-grandchildren Evan, Kaleb and Mariah Nelson; brothers, Donald, Patrick, and Thomas Raub; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Rosie.

Preceded by his beloved wife of 52 years, Donna (nee Trubich) Raub, who passed away in 2015; his parents, Louis and Rosemary (nee Sheffler) Raub; and brother, Terry Raub.

Visitation for Harold L. Raub will be Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until time of prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Cremation rites were accorded. Family encourages show cars at the service. Please join the family in honor of Harold at the Moran A.C. from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. after services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 would be appreciated.
