He was born January 27, 1956, to the late Diona (Kegley) and Harry Quinlan in Kankakee, IL where he was raised and educated.

Harry worked and resided in Channahon for most of his adult life. A skilled metal fabricator, Harry was self-employed. He and his wife established G & H Machine Shop in Channahon several years ago and Harry recently retired, but he never stopped working. He was an avid fisherman and snowmobiler.

He is the beloved husband of 39 years to Gayle (House) Quinlan; loving and devoted father of Kelly (Ron) Dube and Melissa (Keith) Allen; a very proud “Papa” of Quinn, Olivia, Carter and twins, Hailey and Ryan. He will also be missed by his cousin, Steve Nemeth who was like a brother to Harry.

Family was paramount for Harry and any time he could find to be with them meant the world to him. Whether it was a holiday get together, garage wisdom, outdoor activities at the cabin or the annual family vacation, Harry was in his glory, leading the laughter, fun and adventure.

Harry Quinlan will long be remembered as a loyal, kind-hearted, salt of the earth man for all seasons. He was somehow always there when needed, yet never seemed to be in need himself. He possessed a methodical mind and a proud, yet humble soul. Always quick with a solution and offer to execute, unless he saw a “learning opportunity” for those, let’s say, less mechanically inclined, there was pretty much nothing Harry couldn’t correct. In short, moments after meeting Harry, you realized your good fortune in befriending an incredibly genuine human being.

It’s pretty safe to say Harry would say all this verbiage is unnecessary, and it’s also safe to say he didn’t realize the profound impact he had on so many. Rest in Peace, Harry.

Visitation for Harry Quinlan will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. As it was Harry’s wish, cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Harry’s name can be made to his favorites, Will County Humane Society, the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
