James was a lifelong resident of Joliet and graduated from Joliet Central High School, Class of 1969.

James P. Stevenson

James P. Stevenson, age 69, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at his home with his family at his side. He was born December 29, 1951 to the late Helen (nee Katsaros) and Peter D. Stevenson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda (nee White) Stevenson; his beloved children, Michael (Jamie) Stevenson and Lisa Stevenson; adoring grandchildren, Colton, Bailey, Devin, Aubrey, and Rafael; his dear sister, Angeline (the late Bruce) Fosen. Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Christina Lynn Stevenson; and sister, Katherine Stevenson.

James was a lifelong resident of Joliet and graduated from Joliet Central High School, Class of 1969.

He was a faithful and devoted employee of D’Arcy Motors, Joliet, for over 25 years, where he was a Service Advisor. Before that, he owned Gomer’s Garage & Pizza Station in Shorewood.

Sports was a passion of his, especially football, softball, & hockey. Known as “Coachie,” he played with Joliet area softball teams since he was 18 years old. A longtime Chicago Bears ticket holder, he loved going to every home game, tailgating and cheering on “Da Bears!”

A special thank you to nurse Julie and the staff at Lightways Hospice for the care, support, and compassion they provided James and his family.

Memorial donations may be made to Lightways Hospice.

Visitation for James will be Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., with Trisagion Service at 4:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church,102 N. Broadway St., Joliet for a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.

Face masks will be required at both the funeral home and the church.
