Jane (Gimpel) D’Ottavio of Shorewood, IL passed away Saturday morning, April 8, 2023, enjoying her 80th birthday celebration in Heaven. Jane was born in Joliet to the late Frances (nee Vismara) and Joseph Gimpel.

She is survived by her children, Lynn (Jay) Juricich and Andrew (Amber) D’Ottavio; her grandchildren, Kyle, Connor and Cameron Juricich, Porter and Jordan Smith, Roman and Nella D’Ottavio; and her sisters, Nancy (Anthony) Cap and Carol (Gary) Kelso.

Preceded in death by her husband, Nello A. D’Ottavio (2013).

Jane was an RN at St. Joseph Hospital most of her career delivering hundreds of babies, worked in OR, recovery room and day surgery. She also was a case manager at Hartford Insurance, ending her career at JACH.

She enjoyed many winters at her Florida home, spending time at the beach which was one of her favorite places to be.

She will be remembered for her delicious meals, no one left her home hungry. She also had beautiful entertaining talents which included numerous pool parties with her famous wine and peaches.

Funeral services for Jane D’Ottavio will be Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet, where visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until prayers at 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus at 11:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
