Obituary: John Arthur "Jack" Hofmann, III

Jack entered the family business, Hofmann Fluid Power Inc., at a young age. He took the reins in 1974 and has been the proud President/CEO.

John Arthur Hofmann, III, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Morris, on Saturday, March 6, 2021, surrounded by the love of his family. Jack was born on October 23, 1945, the son of the late John A. and Frances (nee Hillman) Hofmann II. Born in Chicago and raised in Palos Park, Jack was a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School where he was a member of the swim team. After graduation, he answered the call of patriotism to his country and served proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Jack entered the family business, Hofmann Fluid Power Inc., at young age. He took the reins in 1974 and has been the proud President/CEO since. When he wasn’t hard at work, he enjoyed photography, tractors, bird watching, and getting lost in a good book. Jack loved being in the kitchen where he would put his skills to work cooking for the family. Jack will always be remembered for his work ethic, his sarcastic sense of humor, and the incredible love he had for his family. He will continue to live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren by his love, guidance, and the lessons he instilled in them.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marilyn V ”Lynn” (nee Neff); his children, John Arthur (Jenny) Hofmann, IV, Eric (Martha) Hofmann, and Tiffany Hofmann; grandchildren, Tucker (Ally) Hofmann, John Arthur Hofmann, V, Chance Hofmann, Makayla Sundine, Avery Hofmann, and Ally Hofmann; and his siblings, Shelley Hofmann and Ken (Mary) Hofmann. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services for John Arthur Hofmann, III will be held privately by the family. As it was Jack’s request, cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Navy.
