Joseph M. Pina

Joseph M. Pina, age 76, husband of the late Judith K. Pina, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Joe was born on July 28, 1946 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Joseph and Helen (Lemon) Pina of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Joe was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years Judith K. Pina, his mother Helen (Lemon) Pina, his father Joseph Pina and his aunts and uncles in Richmond, Virginia.

He is survived by his loving children, Mike (Terri) Pina of Plainfield, IL, Christy Pina of Minooka, IL; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous cousins.

Joe went to Fairmont Grade School and Lockport West High School in Romeoville, IL. Joe and Judy met at the Lockport Roller Rink, and they married in 1965 and resided in Lockport. Joe joined the United States Navy in 1965 and was honorably discharged after serving in the Vietnam War in 1968.

Joe and Judy had Mike in 1968 and Christy in 1970 and built their first house in Crest Hill, Illinois where they resided for 25 years. Joe loved to go boating and fishing, bowling, and football, especially the Chicago Bears. He also liked woodworking.

Joe was a caring, friendly, and loving man to his wife, children, and friends.

He worked for 29 years at Commonwealth Edison (Dresden) as a Radiation Technician and where he was a union steward. Joe retired at the age of 50 from ComEd, and Judy and Joe moved to Ridgedale, Missouri to be near both of their parents. After 17 years in Missouri, Joe and Judy moved back to Illinois to be near Mike and Christy where they built a house in Minooka, IL and lived in Minooka for 8 years.

All family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation for Joe that will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Road, Joliet, IL. Entombment will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 23060 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL.
