Manuel Diaz

Age 90, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully, on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. He was born January 10, 1933, in Lockport, IL, the son of Emilio and Vicenta Diaz.

Manuel grew up in Joliet and was a proud United States Army Veteran who served his country proudly during the Korean War. He was an extremely talented carpenter and tackled projects with expertise and precision. He had an excellent memory and loved to share his knowledge of many subjects, including World War History. He will be remembered by his family and friends as being very loving and protective to all those he cared about.

Surviving are his sisters, Carmen (Daniel) Enriquez, Theresa Lopez, Lillian James, and Esther Rodriguez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Vicenta Diaz; his siblings, Alphonse, Rose, Paul, Margaret, Isabel, and a brother in infancy.

A visitation for Manuel Diaz will be on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
