Mark W. Schauland

Mark W. Schauland, age 69, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Mark was born on January 2, 1953, in Joliet to the late Walter and Mary (nee Kern) Schauland, and he was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of St. Raymond’s, Joliet West High School, and Joliet Junior College.

Mark was a skilled automotive technician for many years and worked at several area dealerships and shops, including Bill Jacobs Motorsport and, most recently, Intergrity Automotive. Mark loved cars and had a passion for working on his own cars and watching races, especially NASCAR. He loved driving his motor home to visit his grandchildren. Mark enjoyed his daily Dunkin' Donut runs for his coffee with extra cream and extra sugar. He was always willing to help out friends or family when needed.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Patricia (nee Klimek) Schauland; daughter Caroline (Christopher) Mentzer; grandchildren Maddox and Wren Mentzer; sister Linda (the late Darryl) Cantu; cousin Shirl Craig; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Caryl Sarcletti.

Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet. Memorials in his name may be made to the American Lung Association.
