Mary Aileen Kurator
Mary Aileen Kurator, 90, passed away on August 16, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Chicago on September 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Aileen (Raleigh) Farrell.

Mary dedicated ten years to Illinois Bell Telephone Company before leaving her position to begin a new chapter in life—raising a family with her husband, the late Raymond Kurator. It was Mary’s nature to always put others before herself, ensuring everyone was happy. Guided by her personal motto, “lead by example,” Mary inspired those around her through quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering support for others.
Creativity was a constant in Mary’s life; in her free time, she especially enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting—activities that brought her peace and fulfillment. She also found pleasure in a good crossword puzzle.

Mary led a life devoted to her Catholic faith, attending mass every day, and cultivating a strong foundation of faith in her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mary is survived by her three children, John Kurator, Mary Aileen (John) Marcus, and Andrew Kurator; seven grandchildren, Ashleigh Kurator, Elizabeth Kurator, Adam (Alexandra) Kurator, Mary Katherine (Daniel) Kurator, Kristen Marcus, Karen Marcus, and Kevin Marcus. Seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond B. Kurator; her brothers, James Farrell, Patrick Farrell, and Kevin Farrell; and daughter-in-law, Paula Kurator.
Visitation will take place at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services for Mary A. Kurator will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1705 Burry Cir Dr, Crest Hill, IL at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ss Cyril & Methodius Cemetery.
