Mary Margaret "Mae" Delaney, (nee Barton, age 98, and a lifelong resident of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at home with her loving family by her side.

Born May 9, 1920 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Roy and Agnes (nee Egan) Barton.

Mae was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She dearly loved each new generation of children and they were all an important part of her life. Her family will miss her wonderful cooking and will always remember Sunday dinners at her house. She also enjoyed going out to eat and shopping with her family.

Surviving are her two daughters, Marlene Cormier and Terri Tobin; five granddaughters, Karen McKittrick, Sharon (Steve) Potter, Carrie Gunning, Becky (Gary) Dolnak and Allison (Chris) Tobin-Schiro; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years, Charles W. Delaney (October 9, 2013); her parents; son-in-law, Albert Cormier; grandson-in-law, Mickey McKittrick; and two brothers, Raymond Barton and Robert Egan.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Presence Villa Franciscan, and to her friend and caregiver, Cheri DeArmon, for all the kindness and care given to their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Visitation for Mae Delaney will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 710 W. Marion Street, Joliet, and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
