Matthew Edward Lawrence

Matthew Edward Lawrence, passed away, peacefully on April 29, 2023, at his home in Joliet, surrounded by his loving family. Matt was born on June 20, 1976, the son of Mark and Irma (nee Camacho) Lawrence. Born and raised in Joliet, he was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. He worked for over twenty years as a Chemical Plant Operator with Ineos Joliet. At the age of 46, Matt was diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer. He lost his battle, after a long seven months of fighting this aggressive illness.

Matt was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who could always make you smile. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who loved spending time with his family camping.

Matt is survived by his devoted wife of 6 years, Jennifer Ann (nee Banfi) Lawrence; his children, Mia and Jackson; stepchildren, Corrine, Collin and Zachary; parents, Mark and Irma Lawrence; his sister, Stephanie (Phil) Jorstad; and niece, Bailey Jorstad. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his maternal grandparents, Samuel and Eva Camacho; and paternal grandparents, James and Rita Lawrence.

A Memorial Gathering for Matthew will be held on May 6, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 2:00 p.m. until Sharing of Memories at 5:30 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
