Army Veteran, Pastor, and Dedicated Retired Employee of Argonne National Laboratory passes away at 77

Pastor Ronald W. Clark, Sr.

Pastor Ronald W. Clark, Sr., of Joliet, passed away peacefully at the age of 77, on Monday, March 7, 2022, with the love of his family by his side. “Ronnie” was born on November 7, 1944, the son of Henry Clark, Sr., and Marlene (nee Davis) Clark. Born in Chicago, he was raised in Robbins, IL, and was a graduate of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School, where he played football and baseball, ran track, and was involved with the choir and all things music into his adulthood. He loved horses and fast cars. Ronald was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 2018 from Argonne National Laboratory after 51 years of dedicated service as a Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician.

Ronald was a man of faith who enjoyed reading the bible, singing, and being involved in his church. He was the former Pastor of Christian Believers Church in Chicago and was a current member of Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago led by Pastor Tyrone Baity. One of his favorite poems was Footprints in the Sand. Ronald was a father figure to so many and will be remembered as a forgiving man who always had words of encouragement for everyone he knew. He will truly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ronald is survived by his children, Ronnie Jr. (Nicole), Ralph, Rodney, Dr. Kristi (Byron), Marjorie, Terrence (Angela), Terrelle, and Veronica; his father, Henry Clark, Sr.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Danny, Henry Jr. (Jo), Bernard (Anne), Mark, and Annette. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

He is preceded by one son, Tim; his mother, Marlene (nee Davis) Clark; and his siblings, Roscoe and Cheryl.

Visitation for Pastor Ronald W. Clark, Sr. will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm., and a Memorial Gathering will resume on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Inurnment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Army.
