Pedro P. Castillo, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Shorewood on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with his loving wife at his side. Pedro was born on February 3, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Amada (nee Contreras) Castillo.

Pedro shared a full and joyful life with his beloved wife, Sharon Kay McLaughlin. A dedicated family man, he was a proud father to his daughters Barbara (Brian) Lichtenauer, Annette (Allan) Ginsberg, the late Nancy Buchanan, and his stepson Steve Yankey (Rita Yankey). He was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that brought him endless joy throughout his life.
A hardworking and entrepreneurial spirit, Pedro owned and operated Castillo’s Upholstery Shop, where he took great pride in his craftsmanship. Outside of his work, Pedro enjoyed spending time gardening, vacationing with family, working on household projects, and relaxing with a good movie. His calm presence, cheerful nature, and warm heart left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Memorial Gathering for Pedro P. Castillo will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Will County Humane Society or Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
