Richard Allen Binkley, age 75, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, IL.

Born on May 30, 1950, in Decatur, IL to Leroy and Georgia (Scott) Binkley. He was a graduate of Joliet Central High School with the Class of 1969. He went on to attend Joliet Junior College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Agriculture. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he was ranked as an SP4. He received a National Defense Service Medal and a Marksmanship Badge.
Richard spent many years deeply involved with the Boy Scouts and served as a leader. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was an active member at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Joliet. Most importantly, Richard’s pride and joy was his grandchildren. He would do anything and everything for them and made it to every sporting event possible.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, K. Robin (nee Ireland); his loving children, Scott (Danielle) Binkley and Susan Binkley; grandchildren, Rylee, Gabrielle, and Isabella; his siblings, Gary (Jonell) Binkley, Linda (Larry) Gentry, Karen Binkley, Mark (Margarethe) Binkley, and Valerie Weis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Georgia Binkley; one son, Matthew (1981); his daughter, Sarah (2016); and his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Benita Ireland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the family for future disbursement to many of Richard’s charities that he was so fond and appreciative of.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mistwood Golf Club, 1700 W. Renwick Rd., Romeoville, IL 60446. Per Richard’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.
