His greatest legacy was the love he shared with his family and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

Robert Alan Cagann, 86, of Joliet, IL and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, surrounded by the love of his family.

Robert was born in Chicago, IL, on December 22, 1939, the son of the late Oscar and Villars (Parkhill) Cagann. He was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School and the University of Illinois, where he was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Following his education, Robert served his country in the United States Army. His dedication, determination, and strong work ethic would remain hallmarks of his life and career.

Robert was a respected and influential figure in the Chicagoland real estate industry. As the owner of Axiom Properties, he dedicated decades to serving the community and building a successful career in real estate and property management. He was particularly recognized for his expertise in real estate rehabilitation and shared his knowledge generously with others in the profession. Robert authored a book on real estate rehabilitation and was a sought-after public speaker for the Institute of Real Estate Management, where he helped educate and inspire others in the industry.

Outside of his professional life, Robert enjoyed staying active and spending time doing the things he loved. He was an avid tennis and golf player and cherished time at his homes in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and Naples, Florida. Above all, he treasured time with his family and the relationships he built throughout his life.

Robert is also survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sandra J. (Wyss) Cagann; children, Robert Richards, Gwen (Ross) MacIntyre, Roger (Kaaryn) Cagann, and Robb (Felicia) Cagann; grandchildren, Duke Richards, Lorn (Matt) Sherry, Matthew Cagann, Robert Charles Cagann, and Mia Cagann.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Susan Cagann.

Visitation for Robert Alan Cagann will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services and inurnment will be held at a later date with military honors held under the auspices of the United States Army.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
