Robert J. Murphy
Robert J. Murphy, age 81, of Joliet, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 at Sunrise of Naperville, North. Born and raised in Joliet, the son of the late Francis R. and Roselyn (nee Simon) Murphy, he was a resident of Wilmington for over 40 years before returning to Joliet several years ago. Robert was retired from the Wilmington School District as an instrumental music teacher. He was a charter member and the former secretary and treasurer of the Wilmington Moose Lodge #241, a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Wilmington, and an active member of the Kankakee River Valley and Frankfort Civil War Round Table. Robert was very active in all of his daughter's activities throughout the years.

Surviving are his three daughters, Eileen (James) Valentino, Lorraine (Brian) McGuire and Charlotte Murphy; four grandchildren, Mitchell, James "Tony", Meredith and Tara; three siblings, David, Karen and Janice and their families.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (nee Janovyak) Murphy (2014) and a brother, James Murphy.

A Memorial Visitation for Robert J. Murphy will be held on Sunday October 2, 2022 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Visiting will continue Monday morning, October 3, 2022 at St. Rose, 603 S. Main St., Wilmington, from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to Kuzma Care Cottage would be appreciated.
