Obituary: Ronald E. Ospalik

His example of humility and steadfast compassion serves as a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know him.

Ronald E. Ospalik

Ronald E. Ospalik, a longtime Channahon, IL resident, passed away peacefully with his loved ones at his side, Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 85, at the Lightways Hospice Home.

Ron was born on September 21, 1939, to the late Ursula (nee Setina) and Frank Ospalik, in Joliet, where he was raised and attended Joliet Catholic Academy.

Surviving is his sister, Lorene J. (late William) Pierce; sisters-in-law, Joan (late Frank) Ospalik and Charlene (late Kenneth) Ospalik; nieces, nephews, and his goddaughter, Jill (Jeff) Girard, Lisa (Tim) Jungles, Craig (Milena) Ospalik, Robert D. (Karen) Ospalik, Nicki (Eric) Eriksen, Cheryl Benn, and Kenneth W. (Lisa) Ospalik. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive, as well as, Ron’s very dear friends, Jean and John Stuczynski, and Mike and Joanne Wesch.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Frank and Kenneth Ospalik.

Ron retired from Olin Chemical as a Chemical Operator after many years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Ron was in his element being outdoors. He truly loved hunting and fishing. He will be remembered fondly by his loved ones as a man of integrity and deep faith, who would stand strong in his beliefs and convictions. He was as honest as the day is long.

Visitation for Ron will be Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) Joliet. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home with prayers at 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning, September 22, 2025, to St. Ann Catholic Church in Channahon, where Ron's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to St. Ann Catholic Church.
