Obituary: Roy W. Ravagnie

He approached the world with open eyes and an open heart, reminding others that life is meant to be explored, not simply endured.

Roy W. Ravagnie

Roy W. Ravagnie, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at his home. Roy was born on October 31, 1950, in Joliet, IL. He was the son of the late Roy William and Lois M. (nee Klein) Ravagnie.He was a graduate of Lockport West Class of 1969. Roy then went on and received his Bachelor’s degree of Business and a Minor in Statistics from Lewis University.

Roy was a proud retiree of Laborers Local #75 in Joliet, where he dedicated many years of hard work and commitment. He embraced his love of travel, with Las Vegas holding a special place in his heart. Roy enjoyed the excitement of casinos, and found great enjoyment in going to the horse races. A devoted and lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox, he proudly cheered them on through every season.

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; step son, John (Kimberly) Walsh; grandchildren, Kylie (Major Nathaniel- United States Army) Bernardo, and Jack Walsh; great-grandsons, Theo and Mason Bernardo; sister, Deb (Steve) Petrella; beloved niece and goddaughter, Kristin Petrella, and special friends, Denny Hray (Joy) , and Tom Colombo.

He was preceded in death by his step son, Shane M. Walsh.

A Memorial Gathering for Roy W. Ravagnie will be held on Wednesday, April 15 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. Joliet, IL, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 5:30 p.m. As it was Roy’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roy’s name may be made to ALC Hospice, 360 W. Butterfield Rd., Suite 325, Elmhurst, IL 60126
