Sherry Mills, age 83, passed away surrounded by love on Thursday, May 28, 2026. She was born on March 8, 1943, in Cambridge, OH, the daughter of the late Jack and Jean (nee Stewart) Long.

Sherry met the love of her life, Elbert Mills, in Michigan City, Indiana, while she was the proud owner and operator of a ceramics shop. Through her talent and creativity, she found great joy in crafting ceramic pieces that brought beauty and happiness to the lives of others.

On August 8, 1959, Sherry and Elbert were united in marriage, beginning a remarkable journey of love, devotion, and unwavering partnership. Together, they shared 67 beautiful years side by side, building a life grounded in faith, resilience, and enduring love that carried them through every joy, trial, and triumph.

After living in several states and building a life together, Sherry and Elbert chose to plant their roots in Morris, Illinois, where they lovingly raised their five children and created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Elbert; her children, Gregory Mills, Jay Mills, and Michael Mills.

She is preceded in death by her children, Jeffery Mills and Kelly Mills; and her parents.

As it was Sherry’s request cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sherry’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
