Age 97 of Joliet, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Lakeshore Rehab and Healthcare. Born in Rockdale, Illinois on November 16, 1923, the only daughter of John and Rose (nee Uher) Wegrzyn and moved to Joliet in 1947. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Church. Virginia was a graduate of St. Francis Academy in 1942 and attended Metropolitan Business College. Employed by the Navy at Lewis Aeronautical School, and when the war was over in 1945, the school closed and Virginia went to Chicago, employed by Lange and Company in insurance business, she became an insurance underwriter for many years and when she retired in 1956, she became a homemaker. Her many interests included traveling the states and abroad, she was a "snowbird" for 34 years going to Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida. She was happiest cooking, baking and enjoying friends over for dinner. Virginia belonged to the CCW, Catholic Women's League, Women of Moose Lodge, Lambda-Nu Chapter of Phi Tau Omega and Ladies of VFW.

She was preceded by her parents, John (1979) and Rose (1985); her first husband, William B. Dillon (1974) and second husband, John T. Dillon (1980); step-son, Donald J. Dillon (2012).

She is survived by her family and friends.

Visitation for Virginia Rose Dillion will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials in her name to Transitions Hospice or St. Patrick Catholic Church would be appreciated.
