William J. Cahill
Age 79, of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Posen, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL. He was born October 26, 1942, to the late Gertrude (nee Watterson) and William E. Cahill.

William is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara (nee Downey) Cahill; loving children, William (Pamela) Cahill, Christine (Mark) Dunbar, Karen (Michael) Donovan, Colleen (Mark) Buzenski, and Kathleen (Jonathan) Cline; cherished grandchildren, Blair, Kyle, Ryan, Connor, Kayla, Brianna, Jenna, Riley, Christopher, Matthew, Brian, Brandon, Alyssa, Anthony, Alayna, Ashlynn, and Austin; adoring great-grandson, Joshua; dear sisters, Mary Ann Cahill and Catherine (Jack) Warren; dear brother, James (Denise) Cahill.
He graduated from Mendal Catholic High School, Chicago, IL. He was a truck driver for Certified Grocers for 33 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed sports and was a referee for IHSA Basketball for over 20 years. He spent time as a Defense Coordinator/ Special Teams Coach for the Chicago Lions in the 1980s. He also enjoyed spending time with his son target shooting at the range.

William will be remembered fondly for his love of his family and the Green Bay Packers.
Visitation for William J. Cahill will be Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) Joliet. Funeral services will take place Monday, February 28, 2022, 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 Division St., Plainfield, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield, IL.
