'Oh, The Places I'll Go' Career Event Features Former NFL Player

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Oh, the places you'll go! The Valley View School District's College and Career Readiness Steering Committee is inviting the community to attend the "Oh, the Places I'll Go" College and Career Event.

Attendees will be able to learn from experts on two- and four-year colleges, tech and trade schools, military service and much more. Not only will the community get to learn about how to help kids navigate the real world, but they'll get to meet Anthony Herron, a Bolingbrook High School graduate who went on to play in the NFL.

Herron, who graduated high school in 1997, will receive the "Distinguished VVSD Alumnus for College and Careers" award. He'll also talk about his journey from VVSD schools to college, the NFL and sports broadcasting.

On Thursday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., the event will run at Lukancic Middle School. District officials especially invite parents of middle and high school students, who can learn about how to save and pay for college as well as financial aid opportunities.

Judges will also announce the winners of the "Oh, the Places I'll Go" Video Contest. New entries are closed. There will also be a "Battle of the Schools" contest, based on the school with the highest attendance.
