JOLIET, IL — Ronald Meimers, who has at least 10 drunken driving convictions over the years, is now back in the Will County Jail following another Joliet police arrest in connection with allegations of domestic violence at The Birches, a Joliet apartment community off Glenwood Avenue.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has filed two counts of domestic battery against the 62-year-old Meimers, who resides in the 2300 block of White Birch Lane. He is accused of throwing a woman to the ground and grabbing her about her body, his criminal complaint indicated.

Meimers already has a 2012 conviction from Grundy County for domestic battery, the prosecutors pointed out.

According to the prosecution's petition to deny pretrial release for Meimers, on Monday night, one of the Joliet Police Department's Killian brothers, along with Officer Tyrell Hundley, responded to a domestic disturbance at 7 p.m. The woman told 911 dispatchers that Meimers just hit her and threw to the ground. The 911 dispatchers overheard Meimers in the background telling the woman to hang up the phone, court files show.

The woman relayed that Meimers was intoxicated and possibly trying to leave the scene. On scene, the Joliet police spoke with the woman who advised that Meimers exited out the rear of
the house. As officers made their way to the backyard, they saw Meimers go into a detached garage in the backyard and close the door.

"Ronald ignored commands to come out and speak with police. Ronald yelled at us to get off his property and began
hitting the window and door," the prosecution's petition indicated.

The woman told Officer Killian that before the Joliet police arrived on scene, Meimers was intoxicated and he "came into the bathroom while she was using it, threw a steak at the
mirror and then grabbed her and threw her to the ground," court files show.

Meanwhile, "Ronald became increasingly irate. He would open the door briefly to yell but then would shut and lock the door. Finally, Ronald opened the door aggressively, yelled
something to the effect of 'get the f*** off my property' and before he had the chance to shut it again, Officer Killian grabbed ahold of Ronald and pulled him away
from the garage. Ronald landed on the ground and was subsequently placed into custody," court files indicate.

In October 2023, Joliet Patch published a crime story about Meimers headlined, "Joliet Parolee With 10 DUIs Now Charged With Domestic Violence." The article indicated that Meimers, then 59, was arrested by Joliet police on three felony domestic violence charges. He also has 10 DUI convictions."
