Over $5,000 Raised at Joliet District 86 Autism Awareness Fundraiser

Proceeds to benefit Marycrest Early Childhood Center, Sator Sanchez Elementary, and Hufford Junior High Schools

Thank you to everyone that participated in the Joliet Public Schools District 86 10th annual Autism Awareness 5K Run/Walk. Over $5,000 was raised for the student autism programs at Marycrest Early Childhood Center, Sator Sanchez Elementary, and Hufford Junior High Schools.

Winners of the 5K Run included 1st place, with a winning time of 20:16,: Julian Huerta, 2nd place: Hiroshi Yanajara, and 3rd place: Woodland Elementary School Principal Ben Meinert. Julian and Hiroshi’s mothers work together in a Kindergarten classroom at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. The sons met for the first time at the event!

Vendors included Easterseals, Fresh Thyme Market, Healing Center, Hillman Pediatric Therapy, Special Recreation of Joliet & Channahon (SRJC), and Westside Therapy. Students from the Hufford Junior High Girls Soccer Team also volunteered at the fundraiser.
