Overnight House Fire On Oneida Street Leaves Residents Without Shelter
It took Joliet Fire Department crews nearly 90 minutes to get Thursday's early morning house fire on Oneida Street under control.

JOLIET, IL — Less than 12 hours after the Joliet Fire Department was summoned to put out a raging fire at the Haley Mansion on South Center Street, firefighters battled an overnight house fire at 612 Oneida Street.
The fire happened at 3:05 a.m. Thursday.
Battalion Chief Fred Offermann said the first units arrived within 4 minutes of the call and were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the two-story single house.

Multiple hose lines were used inside to extinguish fire on both floors. All the residents got out of the building safely, he noted.
The fire was declared under control at 4:30 a.m. Fire crews from stations 1, 4, 5, and 6 extinguished the fire and nobody was injured.

The fire is currently under investigation. Offermann told Patch that the house is uninhabitable for the foreseeable future. "It's gonna need a lot of renovations," he noted.
