JOLIET, IL— A 26-year-old Joliet resident who lives along Caton Farm Road appeared at the Will County Courthouse this week in connection with two criminal charges accusing him of videotaping the body of a woman without her knowledge. Elias Jothi is charged with disorderly conduct as well as unauthorized video recording and live video transmission.

The Joliet Police Department investigated the crime and charges were filed on Sept. 26. During this week's pretrial hearing at the Will County Courthouse, Jothi's lawyer Douglas DeBoer entered a not-guilty plea on his client's behalf.

The incident happened back on Aug. 9. The complaint states that Jothi was making a video or transmitting a live video of another woman's intimate parts for the purpose of viewing the body of or undergarments worn by her without her consent.

The second charge indicates that Jothi knowingly attempted to use a cellular phone to surreptitiously record under the clothing of the woman in such an unreasonable manner as to alarm or disturb her and to provoke a breach of the peace.
