Pedestrian Killed Crossing Larkin Avenue Identified: Coroner
Joliet police had McDonough Street shut down as the officers investigate the Monday night fatality.

JOLIET, IL — A 49-year-old woman lost her life on Monday night after dark in Joliet and 33-year-old Joliet motorist Matthew Ortelli was cited by Joliet police for running her over, according to Joliet police officials.
On Tuesday, the Will County Coroner's Office identified the pedestrian as Stephanie Imrisek of Joliet. She was pronounced dead at St. Joe's hospital at 7:44 p.m.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, officers responded to the area of McDonough Street west of South Larkin Avenue around 7:16 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

English said a Ford 250 pickup truck driven by Ortelli turned left heading westbound on McDonough Street at which time his vehicle struck the 49-year-old woman, who was believed to be in the roadway in the westbound lanes of McDonough Street.
Ortelli initially continued driving westbound on McDonough Street but returned to the scene a short time later, police said. Imrisek was taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department and was pronounced dead.

Following questioning, Ortelli was cited for failure to give information and rendering aid.
