JOLIET, IL —Joliet's new Downtown City Square was the setting for the city of Joliet's first-ever Memorial Day Commemoration to honor America's military veterans from all branches of armed forces. Joliet Patch was on hand for the event and produced multiple Facebook Live videos. The Joliet American Legion Band performed approximately 10 different songs throughout the event. Joliet City Manager Beth Beatty was one of the event's speakers.

The parents of Joliet U.S. Army soldier Staff Sgt. Jose Duenez, who died last year during a training exercise in Lithuania, were also in attendance and recognized by the event organizers.
