Pit Bull Bites Joliet Woman Several Times At Owner's Wish: JPD

Joliet police secured the pit bull and Joliet Township Animal Control arrived to take custody of the dog, authorities said.

JOLIET, IL — A woman suffered several dog bites on her arms and legs and was taken to St. Joe's hospital on Sunday by a Joliet Fire Department ambulance after 43-year-old Joliet resident Deathrice Jimerson ordered his pit bull to attack her, according to Joliet police.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Jimerson's arrest:

  • Around 12:25 p.m. Sunday, Joliet police learned of a disturbance in the 600 block of North Hickory Street. Officers saw Jimerson nearby and there was a loose pit bull dog standing over a woman on the ground. The woman was an acquaintance of Jimerson.
  • Earlier, a disturbance began at a house in the 200 block of Marble Street, where Jimerson struck the victim in the head.
  • During the attack on Marble Street, Jimerson’s pit bull bit the victim.
  • The woman tried to run from the house, and that's when Jimerson chased after her and ordered his pit bull to attack her.
  • Jimerson caught up to the victim in the 600 block of North Hickory Street, where he threw the victim to the ground and punched her in the head multiple times.
  • Jimerson’s pit bull bit the victim on her arms and legs while she was on the ground.
  • Joliet police arrested Jimerson on Hickory Street placed him into custody without any problems.
  • Officers secured the pit bull and Joliet Township Animal Control took custody of the dog.
  • The victim was taken to St. Joe's hospital to treat her injuries, and Jimerson was taken by ambulance to Silver Cross because he also suffered bites from his pit bull during the incident.

Jimerson was later booked into the Will County Jail on aggravated battery charges. He lives in the 1600 block of East Washington Street and his bail stands at $50,000.
