Plainfield Driver, 53, Slams Into I-55 Concrete Wall: Joliet Police

Joliet police announced details of Wednesday afternoon's crash in a press release issued three days later.

JOLIET, IL — A 53-year-old motorist from Plainfield remains in critical condition following Wednesday afternoon's crash along the Northeast Frontage Road north of Caton Farm Road.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 12:35 p.m.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English:

  • The driver was extricated from the GMC 2500 pick up and taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with critical injuries.
  • The Plainfield resident was southbound on Northeast Frontage Road at which time the truck left the roadway and struck the concrete barrier wall adjacent to Interstate 55.
  • The driver was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The roadway was closed for numerous hours while the crash scene was reconstructed.

This crash remains under investigation by the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit.
