Pottery Barn Outlet To Fill Gander Mountain In Joliet

JOLIET, IL —The vacant Gander Mountain store off Interstate 55 and Plainfield Road has been a big empty parking lot the past couple years, but something big is brewing. Joliet Patch confirmed that a Pottery Barn Outlet will be opening here in the coming weeks.

The popular home decor and furniture store has posted several online job openings in recent days. One job opening is for a general manager/operations manager at the new Joliet business.

And that's not all.

There are also jobs posted for Joliet's new Pottery Barn Outlet for stockroom manager and assistant store managers.

On Tuesday afternoon, city of Joliet economic specialist Derek Conley told Joliet Patch that the addition of a Pottery Barn Outlet near the Louis Joliet Mall area is great news for the city. He said the Pottery Barn is opening in an area that is already a magnet for furniture and home decor businesses.

Nearby is Ashley's Furniture, Bob's Discount Furniture, Value City and Pier 1 imports, Conley noted.

Conley said it's his understanding Pottery Barn wants to be open in time for the Christmas Holiday shopping season.

He said Pottery Barn has a one-year lease on the property with the option of extending the lease on the building "if things go well."

"We're very happy to fill one of our big boxes," Conley said. "I think that's one of our busiest commercial corridors ... so it will be good for the city to add the Pottery Barn Outlet to the mix."
