Power Knocked Out In Joliet After Pickup Truck Hits Utility Pole, 2 People Flee Scene: Police Reveal

JOLIET, IL — People who live near Essington Road and Ingalls Avenue may have lost their electricity for several hours on Saturday as a result of an overnight crash.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 02:26 a.m., the officers responded to the area of Ingalls Avenue and Cassie Drive, where they found an empty pickup truck in the backyard of a residence in the 1200 block of Cassie Drive.

English said the truck left the north side of Ingalls Avenue, struck a utility pole and a fence, and ultimately came to rest in the residential backyard. Officers learned that following the crash, the male driver and his male passenger exited the truck and fled the area on foot.

Officers searched the surrounding area; however, the two were not located, English noted.

No injuries were reported. It is believed that the collision caused a power outage to the area.
